Have you been BOO'd? The doorbell rang...no one there....just a bag left on the door step...... with a BOO on it....... and a "BOO Ghost" was taped on the door. This was a very special bag filled with Halloween treats and a special poem including instructions to complete the task......
Now it was our turn to BOO others within 2 days.......Well, any of you that know me.......know this is right up my alley and I just LOVE things like this. To be honest, I have never been BOO'd before and I think this is terrific! So of course I jumped in immediately.......I madly started reading everything I could about being BOO'd on Pinterest.......AMAZING!
OK, my wheels are turning and my brain is taking off...loving this! How can I put a Jody spin on this BOO-ing? The instructions said surprise 2-3 neighbors and I knew 3 special families in our neighborhood I wanted to BOO!
What can I put in these bags? To the studio I go and started pulling pumpkin confetti, glow in the dark spiders, pipe cleaners (in Halloween colors of course), glittery leaves, Halloween stickers and a roll of Halloween decorative ribbon I had on hand......Then I thought......hmmmmm...my painted Halloween Stones! Perfect to add.
Hurry up Jody and finish them.....
Put the sealant on too........get the hair dryer out to dry them in time.....LOL.
Since I only have two days and because this is the busiest time of year (for my JODY DESIGNS painting, and JODY DESIGNS needlepoint) I knew I wouldn't have time to do my own graphic artwork...... which I would have loved to do. Although there are some fantastic graphic artists out there! Too many to select from...Oh well, there is next year. Then I lined up the bags.... each family had two children so doubled all the printable games etc.
First I found a great BOO for the outside of the bag. Then a copy of the poem and instructions. Found these great BOO Eyeglasses and printed them on heavier card stock and then found a word search, a maze game and a Halloween story fill in the words page. I was doing it so fast I have forgotten where I found them all but there are so many on Pinterest you'll find great ones.
Now to find a clever door sign, which completes the bag......You have to place a BOO'd sign on your door or window so others will know you have been BOO'd. The goal is to see how many people will be BOO'd in your neighborhood.
Wish the BOO'd sign had been in orange ( and they spelled it BOOED) but I had to get crackin' time was running short to get my BOO'd bags ready by dark! Taped the BOO to the bag and then to Studio 2 upstairs for final wrapping...
Now the fun part to give the BOO bag "PIZZAZ" ! Adding bright tissue paper and lots of bows to make each item look special ......Topped everything off with hand-full of candy and a spooky stripped pipe cleaner spider I found at Pier 1! (Jody tip: You can give anything the "WOW" factor if you take the time to add bright touches of tissue, bows and streamers. Also everything should be wrapped separately.....more to open, makes it more exciting.)
Ready to go with my partner in crime......We tucked all three bags into a large black tote, had our black clothes on and off we went! I never would have been able to ring the bell and run, for sure I would have tripped and been caught, so happy I had a very clever fast running ghost at my side........I just hid behind a tree and watched...LOL!
Great fun and I loved every second from the ringing of our doorbell the night before. We have been BOO'D! Now why don't you go and BOO some friends in your neighborhood. Remember it can be for the younger or older neighbors, just adjust your treats, it will bring a smile to everyone....
You will have so much fun doing it! GET GOING...you start it!
Happy Halloween.........Ours is off to a great start!
I'll be......... In the Studio........
~Jody
